quidamlingAhh, seems a bunch of people did the friend meme, and are giving little status messages. *shrug* Sounds good to me, summary of today pretty much gives who I am.
Well, today was actually mildly interesting. My sister was in town for the weekend to see Eddie Izzard. He was awesome and we now have more lines to quote. And he talked about evolution and the history of everything and poked fun at wikipedia.
Now, after waking up at 4:00am instead of 3:00am with 'hoshiii...' to drive sis to the airport on Sunday morning (at about 20 over the speed limit), I was more than a little zombified today.
Despite that, I had lot of fun on the squid dissection. I laid it on the line with my coworker/partner in crime that I needed a little bit of rev up time, more than my normal anti-monday, anti-morning-ness. So she started the lab and I wrapped up. The kids were awesome and the teacher liked the style. I keep adding more analogies and explanations to that class (that my coworkers steal, I'm proud to say.) One student was impressed that I've probably done at least 400 dissections. Now I wish I'd kept some sort of official count. >:
They opened up to let staff see the baby beluga, today. I call him Heisenberg Baby. Gahh... 'You vill affect hhem by obzerving hhem!' (How do you type a German accent?) The big wigs are determined that somehow allowing people to see him is bad and have that whole portion of the aquarium locked up tighter than Fort Knox. Other facilities sometimes have their babies on view immediately, we wait for. frickin. ever. But he's made it through the worst of the woods, he now has his mom and two aunties all looking after him.... and the boss man even said he's really probably set. So they will slowly relax the paranoia and let the public see him soon. But guh, cute little grey sausage baby. The boss dude was up on the faaaar away balcony we could perch on to see the baby answering questions. He mentioned the little guy's vocalizing, and each of the animal's signature whistles. I think I had some sort of nerd-gasm. XD
At the end of the day, a few coworkers couldn't figure out a conductivity meter to find salinity for a teacher workshop... and asked me. Only educator with a marine science degree to the rescue! >.>;; Unfortunately I suck at electromagnetism and usually used dedicated salinity probes, so I was only helpful in trawling google. Oops.
The train home had that strange public transit sleep~not sleep, and I think I've figured out some plot bunnies in dreamtime. *chintap* So, now I'm fed, and long, hotly showered, and should write.

I definitely know the half-asleep feeling. And inspiration is always wonderful!
