Hmm.  Driving back from doing the recycling and settling the balance on utilities stuff... I came to a startling realization. 

I think... I'm an adult. 

Like, I picked up the house recycling because I was there to grab a receipt, had the truck, and was going to the recycling center anyway.  And not that it was overflowing and we NEEDED to get it done, or anyone in the house was griping. But I was there, it needed doing, and I did it.  I'm the house husband in my place.  Loading the dishwasher, actually putting the TP on the holder, doing the trash.  I've reached that point where it needs doing and I do it and neither mind nor expect much notice. 

I mean, I've had to re-jumpstart my "career" (heavy emphasis on the quote-unquote) so often, I sometimes fall into this self-deprecating trap of "When the hell will I be an adult and not some struggling kid that can't manage to take care of myself?"

Well, not that I'm chasing around after a bratling (or herd of bratlings) or paying bills with a spouse when most people have that "I'm an adult" feeling.  No, 29, and no fanfare, and volunteering and driving around on a little island in Alaska in an endearingly rattletrap pickup truck, is when I finally have a quiet moment of "Well, I guess I'm a grownup."

/unrelated.  And I know I owe a picspam post.  I really do.  I will get to it, I promise.

I am alive. I swear. Though, also damn internetless. There is FREE wifi in the downtown area, aka just far enough from home to be no good. And the router at home is a spazzy hot mess. I think it needs to be thrown out the window reset, but it lives in the landlord's house, so roomie says it's usually a no-no to go in and hit it with a hammer try. But we might get desperate.

Ok, quickest of quick rundowns.  And my internet ate a draft of this once already.  Not that the first version was any sort of literary gem.  Usually when I post about my life I literally type as I would speak.  And thus, most sentences start with conjunctions and how do I verb?  Anyway.  If you can put up with the lack of grammar (that I can use, see my fics, nouns and adjectively verbing them happen all over the place) you win the internets.

Well, this will pretty much peg my area, but I don't care since I am moving to Alaska in a month. 

I've been back in my hometown for the last few months, native soil of Mass-holes, unique, beloved, crazy Massachusetts.  I do love it here.  And this is where I grew up, so all these places are where I've known since I was 5.

So there are lots of food drives, charity things and helping each other clean up.  I must admit, it's pulling together where small towns shine.

One word of amusement after seeing Thor: Hawkeye.  :3

Though I did like it.  Not phenomenal, but I found it very eye-candy worthy.  I want a rainbow bridge. 

And fuck everything.  I am taking a shower and making cookies.

Random updates:

• Visit with April was awesome, and nice to get the escape.  I got cute winter boots, in Florida, in March, for a third of the regular price.  And cute little swag.  I miss being with cool people already.  Oh yeah, and Ruu was there, too.  >3

• I am working on a character app for an RP game. One I would never have had the chutzpa to join, but the bug has bitten me hard. It's even a character I've never played before. Though I've written him in fic, and sort of asked permission of the friend who usually does play him. *Massive attempt to make sure I am not entirely goinking his characterization from her...*

• Actual job applications, massive numbers of applications go out, a couple interviews come through, no job. Lather, rinse, repeat. I should just apply at damn Target...

• Re: above, BotCon ain't happening.  Oh well, even last year it was the people that made it fun.  Not the building.  And pretty much none of my friends can go anyway.  So we're gonna meet up and do NotCon, later.  I just made that name up.  Patent pending.

• Sister who managed to get Parvo (no, it's not just for dogs...) is out of the hospital in Okinawa and back at her apartment, her hands are less lobster-clawy.  She got her birthday presents from us.  And I think she's going back to work soon.

And on an unrelated note... omg... *headdesks repeatedly*  XD

Ok, first, my sister is currently working for the Navy (in the "I'm a physical therapist and stretch kids till they cry" way, not the "I wear a uniform and carry a gun" way) over in Okinawa.  She reports back with a lot of the cultural strangeness of being stationed in a foreign nation.  And as much as I love much of Japanese culture, there are a lot of times when there are utter moments of "WTF Japan?"
